- Possesses a thorough knowledge of initiating, monitoring, and terminating hemodialysis treatments for hospitalized patients, to include patient preparation, gathering of supplies, organizing care, documenting as required, and reporting abnormal patient findings to Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Aids RN/LPN in providing patient care as requested by supervising RN. Effectively communicates with patients, nursing staff, providers, and ancillary support teams.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of hemodialysis machines, to include machine set-up and clean-up, disinfection, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Addresses patient's quality of life issues in relationship to nutrition/hydration by: providing assistance with distributing nutritional supplements and snacks according to patients plan of care, monitoring and documenting intake and output accurately and notifying RN staff of observations as appropriate.
