- The Design Technician performs the tasks associated with preparing construction-ready design drawings for both developer/customer and COMPANY construction personnel.
- The Design Technician is responsible for performing necessary pre-defined engineering calculations; for mapping and posting electrical facilities to the corporate Geographic Info System (GIS) system; securing municipal construction permits, tracking easement acquisition with the COMPANY Land Department, ordering materials required for successful completion of job construction; and closing field installation records of distribution jobs.
- Produces design drawings using automated/GIS products, maps, exhibits, and reports from notes, aerial and satellite photography, marked prints, digital data source, verbal/written instructions, calculations, or rough field sketches.
- Under the direction of a Designer or Design Consultant, the Design Technician produces all design drawings in accordance with COMPANY requirements for clearances and line design, construction, and maintenance standards.
- Submits requests for equipment inspections, surface locate, potholes, survey, and easement acquisition/verification to all necessary COMPANY departments.
