- The Deputy Director of Recovery is a gubernatorial appointee that leads the State of California’s post-disaster recovery operations ensuring rapid and comprehensive support to California communities.
- Within the core recovery programs are the Public Assistance and Individual Assistance functions, Hazard Mitigation, Recovery Support Functions, and the CA Wildfire Mitigation Program.
- Joining the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) leadership to operate the Joint Field Office (JFO) as the hub of recovery operations
- Representing Cal OES when in contact with the Governor’s Office; officials of federal, state, and local governments; members and staff of the legislature; the news media; and the public.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, policies, and processes governing the state civil service system (including employee/employer relations, employee training and development, and Equal Employment Opportunity); state purchasing and contracting; and emergency functions.
