- The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism.
- This position is located in the Special Operations Division (SOD), Operational Services Bureau (OSB), and Office of the Assistant Chief of Police for Uniformed Operations.
- The Crime Scene Evidence Specialist position is responsible for responding to and assuming control of crime scenes located throughout the Capitol Grounds and its extended jurisdiction in order to photograph, sketch, record, collect, and preserve all items of evidentiary value.
- Performs the full range of crime scene processing functions at scenes within the United States Capitol Grounds and its extended jurisdiction.
- Uses special handling and safety precautions in the collection of weapons, vehicles, chemical agents, narcotics, explosive/pyrotechnics material, hazardous/biohazard materials (to include poisonous, corrosive, and highly combustible materials, blood, body secretions, etc.)
