- Under the general supervision of the City Engineer and the Lead Construction Inspector, the Construction Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections of construction projects, civil site work, requirements, relevant ordinances, project plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Conducts inspections relating to construction projects such as properties, subdivisions, civil site projects, roadway resurfacing, storm sewers, sidewalks, and driveway approaches
- Inspects for conformance to applicable standards and specifications and city code compliance.
- Participates in final inspection of work performed/completed.
- Ability to interpret technical reference manuals, e.g., American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) regulations and procedures, City Construction and Subdivision Standards, City of Columbus Construction Standards, the Ohio Department of Transportation's Construction, Materials Specification Manual, American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and Ohio Building Code (OBC) as they pertain to duties.
