- The primary responsibility of the Communications Coordinator is to maintain the efficient operation of the communications center and the operators on duty.
- Plans, manages, and reviews the work of assigned Emergency Communications staff through subordinate supervision to include TCIC/NCIC work including entries, modifications, cancellations and clearing of work as needed on warrants, articles, vehicles, etcServes as liaison and effectively represents the Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications division in contacts with the public, Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS personnel.
- Responsible for doing quality control and quality improvement for the shift assigned to them by the communications manager; Responsible for equipment maintenance.
- Answering, entering and dispatching Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS calls for service including TDD/TTY; Provide courtesy and servitude to the public; Provide medical pre arrival instructions to the public.
- Operates numerous highly technical computer systems including the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD); enter and retrieves information to and from various databases including TCIC/NCIC, Fort Bend County computer systems, and a variety of local, regional, and state emergency response databases.
