- Information Technology Services (ITS), the Campus' central IT unit, contributes to UC Santa Barbara's mission of research, teaching, and community service by partnering with the Campus community to efficiently deliver IT infrastructure and enterprise application services to faculty, students, staff, and affiliates.
- Under the general direction of the Linux & Virtualization Engineering Manager, enhances and optimizes the enterprise infrastructure, including storage, networks, and systems supporting digital programs, research, and broad areas such as the Library; provides technical expertise, architectural leadership and knowledge of best practices; and ensures that critical applications are designed and optimized for appropriate availability and disaster recovery.
- Drives scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, infrastructure as code (IaC) use, application build pipelines, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment; ensures delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements; provides technical expertise in the diagnosis and resolution of cloud-related issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solutions or escalation to service owners.
- Versed in Linux and containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, docker, etc.)
- Strong conceptual knowledge of broad cloud capabilities and hands-on experience with one or more cloud technology platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
