Job Description This position is eligible for up to a $5,000 sign on bonus Position Summary: Performs duties of a clinical and clerical nature. Maintains records and applies knowledge and skills to run a full functioning office for one or more Providers in Clinic. Assists professional staff by performing routine duties in caring for patients. Education, License, Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to communicate and excellent customer service skills a must. Must be dependable, professional, flexible and able to multi‐task. Essential Functions: <ul><li>Interviews patient to obtain medical history. </li><li>Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc) and documents in the patient’s medical record</li><li>Assists provider during exam and treatment</li><li>Directs patient to examination room and prepares patient for examination and treatment</li><li>Performs liaison duties between patients, Providers, hospital staff, etc</li><li>Process ancillary reports and all other patient results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication</li><li>Responsible for greeting patients and updating various pertinent information into the patient’s medical record</li><li>Routes patient after exam to proper area for visit completion</li><li>May be required to do phlebotomy </li></ul>Other Duties: <ul><li>Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments. </li><li>Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc). </li><li>Performs other clerical functions as necessary. </li><li>Exhibits good telephone etiquette</li><li>Quotes patient self‐pay balances at time of scheduling. </li><li>Informs patients of their financial obligations. </li><li>Directs patients to the patient representative for assistance with their account</li><li>Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines</li><li>Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies</li><li>Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals</li><li>Become familiar with ICD‐9 and CPT coding</li><li>Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms</li><li>Coordinate patient appointments for X‐ray, CT scans, Physical Therapy, etc. as ordered by the providers. </li><li>Assists with obtaining and processing referral and pre‐certification requirements</li><li>Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of patients and others. </li><li>Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks</li><li>Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures. </li><li>Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required </li></ul>The pay ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour About Us Joining the Guthrie team allows you to become a part of a tradition of excellence in health care.
