Role description: Arcadis is currently searching for Buried Infrastructure Specialists to support and grow our Resilience Water team based in Philadelphia, PA, with a preference for candidates located in Philadelphia or Allentown, PA. In these positions, you will collaborate on office and field assignments with staff locally and across the country. Our Center of Excellence for buried infrastructure / conveyance systems in located in our Wilmington DE and Philadelphia PA offices and you will be a key addition to this growing national resource team. Role Accountabilities: Arcadis is looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address key challenges in sanitary/environmental engineering especially in buried infrastructure and conveyance disciplines (i.e., water distribution, sewer (storm, sanitary, combined) collection, pumping, storage and/or treatment systems) to support our Pennsylvania team as a Buried Infrastructure Specialist (with a preference for a candidate located in Allentown or Philadelphia). Previous experience with condition assessment, construction management, renewal and/or rehabilitation design, especially trenchless construction methods, and hydraulic modeling desirable. This team works in both municipal and industrial systems, so experience in either area also desirable. These positions are likely to include short-term (i.e. 1-4 weeks at a time) travel to out-of-area project sites for field work. Some staff selected for these roles will have the opportunity to work at various client sites outside the region (across the US and sometimes, around the world). Only those who are open to travel and fieldwork are encouraged to apply. It is anticipated that you will spend 6 - 10 weeks of travel/fieldwork throughout the year. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well both independently and as part of a team, is interested in a combination of office work, field assignments, and travel, and maintains a flexible attitude towards assignments. The position includes a high-degree of client contact, contractor contact/management, and team leadership, and thus the position requires strong communication and leadership skills. What skills/attributes you need <ul> <li>Must be willing to work in an office and field environment, with an emphasis on field work.</li> <li>Technical skills including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and GIS.</li> <li>Physical ability to lift/carry heavy equipment and perform rigorous field investigations such as inspections, condition assessments, flow monitoring, and construction engineering.</li> <li>After receiving training, the candidate will be expected to be comfortable with entering confined spaces (i.e. manholes) to perform field activities and inspections and work with field contractors to oversee construction of designed works.</li> <li>A valid US driver's license, with a clean driving record and willingness to travel for field or project assignments.</li> <li>Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills to responsibly manage workload multiple, unique assignments with varying deadlines and stakeholders. </li></ul>What you will do: <ul> <li>Communicate regularly (both verbal and written) with staff within own office and across Arcadis, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.</li> <li>Prepare progress reports, participate in client meetings and interact with clients, contractors, subcontractors and the general public.</li> <li>Conceptual design through detailed final design, including preparation of contract documents, for municipal, industrial, and remedial water/wastewater treatment plant units, water/sewer force mains, sewer gravity mains, and pump stations.</li> <li>Flow monitoring data interpretation, data management activities, and GIS integration for modeling.</li> <li>Analyze data and develop recommendations for infrastructure renewal and planning/implementing renewal projects.</li> <li>Field activities including construction inspection, inflow & infiltration studies, sampling, asset inventory and condition assessment including confined space entry, subcontractor oversight, and flow monitoring set-up and monitoring. </li></ul>Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree, ideally in relevant engineering discipline</li> <li>Willingness to travel locally and regionally</li> <li>Willingness to learn and do a wide variety of engineering and construction skills </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li>Prior experience with infrastructure inspection, rehabilitation, design, and/or construction</li> <li>Experience/training with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS</li> <li>H&S Training including: HAZWOPER Certification, Confined Space Entry and/or OSHA 30-hr Construction Site Safety</li> <li>Willingness to travel nationally for short- and medium-term assignments </li> <li>PE certification </li></ul> Why Arcadis?
