<ul><li>SUMMARY: The Billing Specialist is responsible for performing financial and billing functions relative to the efficient operation of Global Therapy & Services in a person-centered environment. The Billing Specialist will assist with the overall billing process operations of Global Therapy & Services, including submissions of daily private, State, and Medicaid insurance and collecting co-pays. The Billing Specialist will also cover basic duties that are done by the Resource Specialist and Bookkeeper in their absence. The Billing Specialist will assist with various financial transactions of the agency, including: entering accounts payables, accounts receivables, cash receipts, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>ESSENTIAL DUTIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</li></ul> <ol><li>Perform assigned billing operations within the agency's billing platform. </li><li>Work with private pay-customers and various insurance carriers to send invoices to them and collect co-pays and ensure timely payments are received. </li><li>Ensure Medicaid/Medicare/Tricare are billed correctly and in a timely manner by consistently verifying the accuracy of proper coding. </li><li>Resolve disputed claims in a timely manner by gathering and verifying information and following up on claims.</li><li>Complete invoicing, accounts receivable/payable for agency-related entities.</li><li>Crosstrain in the Finance area to learn various duties and responsibilities and provide backup to Resource Specialist and Bookkeeper positions as needed.</li><li>Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to clients according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.</li><li>Must be able to perform Lifting and Transferring techniques as trained and pass performance testing. The employee may occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 lbs. Forward motion will occasionally be required.</li><li>Work inside the building a majority of the time.</li></ul><ol><li>Essential Duties include the Physical Demands listed below.</li></ol> ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <ol><li>Assist with preparation of accurate and timely monthly financials within established deadlines each month as needed.</li><li>Operate the Electronic Medical Records to maintain customer information and scheduling them, along with reconciling insurance payments. </li><li>Have a great understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and help patients understand the EOB.</li><li>Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.</li><li>Follow up on accounts receivable issues including, but not limited to, debt collection follow-up.</li><li>Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.</li><li>Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested.</li><li>Serve as backup for the Bookkeeper when that staff member is absent.</li><li>Serve as backup for the Resource Specialist when that staff member is absent.</li><li>Work flexible schedules or within various environments as agency and supervisor deems necessary. Staff attendance and promptness to assigned shifts is essential. The responsibilities of this position may require staff to be able to work irregular or extended hours, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, etc. </li><li>Represent the agency in the represented communities through positive public relations and active involvement in civic functions.</li><li>Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.</li><li>Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.</li><li>Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.</li><li>Safeguard all agency funds and property.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the CSD, CFO, CEO, or designee.</li><li>Other reasonable duties as may be assigned.</li></ol> QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary for success. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience utilizing EMR systems and 1 year of AR/Billing experience and billing insurance carriers in a healthcare setting. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver's License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty. Preferred: 3+ year(s) of Medical Accounts Receivable/Medical Billing experience.
