- The antigen manufacturing operation is made up of teams that carry out the production activities for the preparation and sterilization of equipment, preparation and sterilization of media components, fermentation of bacterial antigens, downstream processing of bacterial antigens and serial batching of antigens to blend the final vaccines prior to sterile filling.
- The Downstream Processing (DSP) Department is responsible for key processing activities in the manufacture of antigens to be used in the blending of final vaccines.
- Department activities include cleaning, set up and sterilization of large scale filtration equipment and the concentration/filtration of antigen batches required for final vaccine blending.
- Job requires knowledge of aseptic skills because the procedures have to keep the antigen sterile from outside contamination.
- When this antigen processing isn’t required there may be other duties to assist with within the DSP team.
