Full-time
- SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an Associate Staff Scientist to join the Science, Research and Development (SRD) Division at the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), to support commissioning, operations, and research at the qRIXS instrument, and the development of new research initiatives within the SRD division.
- The qRIXS instrument is one of the flagship instruments of the recently upgraded X-ray Free Electron Laser at SLAC (LCLS-II).
- It will exploit the high brilliance of the high repetition rate upgrade in the soft X-ray regime for high energy resolution time and momentum resolved resonant inelastic X-ray scattering investigations of a broad range of materials, and material phenomena.
- The initial focus of the instrument will be investigation into emergent quantum phenomena in complex and topological materials, but as the as the instrument becomes established the scope of the investigation will broaden to include devices, especially photovoltaic, microelectronics, quantum sensors, and energy storage devices.
- A background in ultrafast science, computational materials science, and machine-learning, although not required, is strongly desired.
