- The Counseling and Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Department provides a continuum of essential services to the most vulnerable youth in our community, including two crisis nurseries, an emergency shelter, permanent and transitional housing, a food and clothing pantry, street outreach, and support for minor victims of commercial sexual exploitation.
- Our crisis nursery program is the only one in New York state that offers free, low-barrier, immediate access that does not require a referral from any other entity.
- The purpose of this program is to provide childcare in a calm, safe environment to reduce the trauma on the children of families experiencing a crisis, including (but not limited to): medical emergencies, unexpected illness, accidents, unemployment, mental health episodes, unexpected death, domestic violence, homelessness, legal issues, unstable/unsafe housing.
- Our two locations in Rochester, one in the southwest quadrant (CNGR) and one in the northeast quadrant (Owen's House), are open 24/7 year-round.
- This emergency response system is intended to provide after-hours and weekend support to the Runaway and Homeless Youth programs.
