- Under general supervision of the Director, incumbent provides interpreting services to facilitate communication between hearing and hearing impaired persons using manual sign systems such as American Sign Language to translate spoken language into a form which can be understood by hearing-impaired persons, or to reverse translate from the language system used by hearing impaired persons into oral spoken language which can be understood by hearing persons.
- Transliterate by providing vocal expression of a hearing impaired speaker persons.
- Ability to effectively shift between ASL or a manual sign system to spoken English and vice versa in highly interactive situations, such as discussions, workshops, seminars and platform settings.
