- Agricultural Police Officers are field agents and inspectors (peace officers) of the Department of Agriculture, and as such, enforce all State agricultural laws and regulations.
- This position works within the Department of Agriculture and is located in Las Vegas, NV. The Incumbent will be trained to perform law enforcement duties in a Nevada Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) law enforcement academy.
- Upon successful graduation from the academy and under close supervision, the incumbent will be trained to provide protection of public health and safety for the residents and visitors of the state; conduct inspections, investigations and law enforcement duties for all livestock, stray/feral horses or animal related events or incidents to include animal health inspection requirements, theft of livestock and animal cruelty.
- Additional responsibilities consist of monitoring animals entering the area of state from other areas of states and international locations; conducting traffic stops on commercial/private agricultural vehicles on roadways and carrying out inspections at highway check sites.
- Special Notes Applicants must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code. Incumbents possessing a Class C driver's license must obtain and maintain a J endorsement within one year of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
