- The A Repairmen-Bus Mechanic involves troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, assembly and/or installation of automotive/diesel engines, transmissions, large and small electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic components, chassis and vehicle body repairs for the MTA bus fleet.
- Diesel experience and/or ASE Certifications are highly desirable for the A Repairman-Bus Mechanic positions.
- Completion of a four-year vocational or technical high school course of instruction in mechanics maintenance or a related field, formal technical training or on-the -job training in an approved apprenticeship program may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
- The employee may travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area, in all types of weather conditions, and at all times of the day or night.
- Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards including, but not limited to, toxic materials and fumes, asbestos, flammable or combustible agents; any of which may require the use of personal safety equipment such as hardhats, hearing protection, protective eyewear/footwear, and respirators.
