Solid waste collection employers pick up household and some commercial trash and recyclables from homes, businesses, and public areas, then transport it to processing or disposal sites. Jobs often include refuse truck drivers, route supervisors, sanitation workers, and laborers who perform curbside collection and basic sorting/prep tasks. Work is typically outdoors in all weather, with physically demanding lifting and frequent early hours and shift work.
