Libraries and Archives

Libraries and archives staff help preserve and provide access to books, historical records, and digital materials. Jobs often include library assistants, archivists, cataloging/metadata roles, digitization support, and reference or circulation services. Work is usually in public or institutional facilities with quiet, customer-facing areas; customer interaction and hands-on handling of physical items are common. Some positions may require education in library science or experience with cataloging systems, and schedules can include evenings or weekends.
