- Fleet Technician Summary To diagnose and perform maintenance and repair on a wide range of city vehicles, mechanical and motorized equipment, lawn and garden equipment, off-road machinery, snow removal equipment by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of city equipment and vehicles across multiple departments.
- Weld, fabricate and assemble parts and equipment for automotive and heavy equipment; fabricate, modify, and repair body chassis parts; weld, braze, solder, and cut steel, stainless steel, and aluminum by torch and mig welder; sandblast truck beds, plows, and wheels.
- Install radios, emergency lighting systems and special equipment for police, public works and parks and recreation vehicles.
- General Maintenance & Emergency Response Drive all types of city vehicles as needed for testing, field service, or deliveries.
- Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of: Vehicle and equipment repair Preventative maintenance Hydraulic systems Welding and fabrication Engine components and operational characteristics Shop equipment and tools Vehicle and equipment lubrication techniques Occupational hazards and safety practices Vehicle, equipment maintenance and safety regulatory compliance Ability to: Understand and comply with workplace instructions and policies.
