Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.) This includes PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, etc.

Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD. Proficiency with PLS-CADD software. Participate in engineering activities such as CADD production, traffic noise measurements and survey data processing. Duties: Apply engineering fundamentals to assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculations, geometric design, pavement marking/signing, drainage design, maintenance of traffic design, erosion control & landscaping, cross sections, grading, ADA Ramp design, sidewalk design, barrier warrant analyses, traffic noise modeling, report writing, cost estimates, and other related tasks for the employer’s highway division.

Intermediate to proficient skills using word-processing, spreadsheet, CADD and other computer applications in support of surveying technology. Utilize CADD system to enter the required data, such as precise measurements and commands, in order to generate drawings, renderings, report graphics or other digital images.

Civil3D, MicroStation, Terrasolid, TopoDOT, PLS-CADD and other 3D modelling software experience is preferred. Work with management to prepare and finalize documents for remote sensing projects, including but not limited to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Lidar / photogrammetry projects, terrestrial mobile mapping, volume calculations, data extractions, and 3D modeling, in accordance with company standards, municipal / jurisdictional requirements, survey standards, and client requirements.

Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RIS3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, transmission analysis programs.

Acts as a subject matter expert with respect to CADD software and has advanced knowledge of Bentley and Autodesk CADD applications. Working knowledge of Autodesk and Bentley CADD applications.

Develop Transmission Line design knowledge pertaining to PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, steel pole performance loading, material procurement, construction specification, and construction support.

Successful candidates will work assisting our experienced Engineers by reviewing and performing calculations, developing design plans, learning industry software and CADD skills, and participating in bridge inspections.

Proficiency in Revit, 3D CADD. Market focused to specific DoD (i.e., USACE districts, NAVFAC, etc.,) or defense contractor clients. Federal including DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor project experience.

Modelling transmission lines using PLS-CADD software including line routing, structure spotting, structure selection and design, hardware selection and fit-up, and conductor selection. Experience using PLS-CADD for analysis and design of transmission (or distribution) lines preferred.

Our Dallas Fort Worth region is looking for a Staff Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice. Experience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews is a plus.
