The Culturally Specific Restorative Justice Facilitator designs and delivers restorative justice training programs tailored to diverse cultural communities. Facilitate discussions and dialogues to enhance community understanding and engagement with restorative justice including conducting restorative justice cases and outreach with police and other system partners to enhance collaboration and support for restorative justice initiatives.

Strong knowledge of community resources in Staten Island, the justice system, reentry, and restorative justice practices are a plus. SIJC operates diversion, alternative to detention and incarceration, supervised release, reentry, mental health and wellness, workforce development, peer-led restorative justice and leadership development programs.

Holds youth accountable to reach goals set in their Restorative Justice healing path. This position facilitates interactions in a positive, safe, and sensitive manner, effectively mentoring youth along a trajectory of restorative justice.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in urban schools, criminal legal system, and/or social service settings; substantial experience with restorative justice practices in one or more of those settings; experience working with youth and professional development with adults; cultural acuity and cultural humility; and is able to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
