Role: Database Application DeveloperLocation: Walnut Creek, CA and Folsom, CA (Hybrid)Type : W2Duration: Long termScope of Work: Maintain the database Reports, applications, dashboards Serve northern CA and different regions within VZ use their database, reports and dashboards Built up as an oracle database New MySQL database they want to stand up Use existing oracle DB and translate/transfer to MySQL DB that they would support moving forward Linux server runs scripting on oracle DB Primary Duty: Taking existing oracle Database and translating into MySQL database Additional skills with Linux- update/maintain serverMoving RedHat7 to RedHat 8Skills: MySQL is the primary focus (PL/SQL is not a requirement) Oracle Database Linux Scripting: MySQL, PEARL, PHP DBA experience Targeted Years of Experience: 5-10 yearsDatabase Migration Expertise:Strong understanding of both Oracle and MySQL architectures.Experience with database migration tools (e.g., Oracle SQL Developer, MySQL Workbench, or custom scripts).Knowledge of data modeling and schema conversion between Oracle and MySQL. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for both databases.Familiarity with handling large datasets and minimizing downtime during migration.Expertise in configuring and maintaining MySQL on a Redhat 7/8 environment.Understanding of optimizing SQL queries for performance in MySQL. Familiarity with index creation and optimization techniques to improve the performance of Python and Bash scripts interacting with the database.Regression testing - Ensuring that the scripts retain their functionality and that no existing operations are broken due to migrationDocumentation, documentation, documentation Develop and maintain databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availabilityEvaluate and advise on all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applicationsDesign and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queriesConduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development effortsMUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important): MYSQL, Oracle, Database Migration and maintenanceDESIRED SKILLS:PHP Expertise:- Strong understanding of PHP and its dependencies, including any specific extensions or libraries used by the application.Ability to identify and address compatibility issues between PHP versions and Redhat 8.Proficiency in web server configuration (e.g., Apache or Nginx) to ensure proper integration with PHP post-upgrade.Scripting (Python and Shell): Familiarity with Python versions and handling any deprecation warnings or updates required for compatibility.Application Testing and Validation: Ability to conduct thorough testing of the web application post-upgrade to ensure that all components (front-end, back-end, scripting) work as expected.Familiarity with RedHat 8
