From our name to each project, Integrity and Excellence come first.\nBASIC FUNCTIONS:\nThe Civil Construction Pipelayer is responsible for the installation of underground utility systems, including laying, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections in accordance with project plans and safety standards. This role performs trench work, bedding, compaction, shoring, and line-and-grade control while maintaining overall trench safety. The Pipelayer works closely with Foremen, Superintendents, equipment operators, and crew members to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe utility mainline construction.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nField Pipe Installation & Utility Work\nLay, join, align, wrap, and seal pipe sections in accordance with project requirements and manufacturer specifications.\nInstall gravity storm, sanitary sewer, pressure sewer, and water main piping systems.\nMeasure and cut pipe to correct lengths using appropriate cutting equipment.\nInspect, clean, align, and install joints and fittings to manufacturer and project standards.\nPerform taps or drill holes for auxiliary utility connections as required.\nTrenching, Grade & Safety\nEnsure pipe is installed to exact line and grade using lasers, levels, and measuring tools.\nGuide equipment operators during trench excavation to achieve proper depth and alignment.\nPerform hand excavation and grading as needed to complete installations.\nPlace and maintain trench shoring systems and ensure trench safety at all times.\nCompact bedding and backfill using jumping jacks, plate compactors, mechanical equipment, or shovel chinking to prevent pipe ovaling.\nApply extensive knowledge of soil conditions and shoring techniques in compliance with OSHA trenching and sloping regulations.\nCoordination & General Duties\nCommunicate clearly with top-hand personnel and equipment operators using verbal and hand signals to support efficient workflow.\nWork collaboratively with crew members in a team-oriented environment.\nFollow direction from the Foreman regarding daily tasks, sequencing, and productivity.\nAssist with general labor duties as required to support job-site operations.\nEnsure compliance with all safety, environmental, and OSHA requirements.\nProfessional Responsibilities\nMaintain safe, professional, and productive work practices at all times.\nAdhere to company policies, procedures, and jobsite standards.\nPromote teamwork, accountability, and positive jobsite morale.\nTreat coworkers, supervisors, and project stakeholders with respect and professionalism.\nQUALIFICATIONS\n3+ years of related utility or civil construction experience.\nAbility to lift 60 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods.\nAbility to frequently kneel, squat, bend, stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motion.\nStrong understanding of underground utility installation, piping systems, and trench safety.\nAbility to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nActive Oregon driver’s license and reliable transportation.\nAbility to pass a pre-employment drug test.\nBENEFITS\nCompetitive Wage\nPaid Time Off\nMedical Insurance\nDental Insurance\nVision Insurance\n401k Plan\nI&E Construction is an equal-opportunity employer.
