Tasks include materials processing, machining, lapping, equipment operation, planning and scheduling, data collection and reporting, inspection, and assembly.\n\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\n\nMember of prototype fabrication team:\n\nProject planning, execution, tracking and reporting\n\nDevelop and improve processing methods for inorganic composite materials (preform fabrication, metal casting, mold production and assembly, programming and operation of advanced furnaces, programming and operation of CNC machining centers, precision finishing/lapping of hard materials, and other associated activities)\n\nCharacterization of materials properties\n\nDetailed process and product tracking\n\nMeasurement of dimensions, both manually and via computer controlled CMMs\n\nInterface with outside entities (raw materials suppliers, equipment vendors, toll manufacturers, machine shops, and test labs)\n\nOperate thermal processing equipment and controls\n\nTransfer successful products to manufacturing, including documentation and training\n\nEducation & Experience\n\n5+ years related experience or relevant combination of education and/or experience.\n\nRelevant certifications a strong plus, such as CAM, CAD, ISO, Lean, CMM, others\n\nSkills & Other Requirements\n\nFamiliarity with manufacturing and/or lab environment\n\nExperience with advanced equipment (materials processing, furnaces, CNC machining centers, CMMs, etc.)\n\nKnowledge of assembly operations\n\nStrong mechanical aptitude\n\nStrong computer aptitude (data summaries, programmable furnaces and machining centers, etc.)\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nPosition requires on-site activities for prototype fabrication.\n\nWork schedule is 5 days, 40 hrs per week, first shift.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nHands-on, lab-based job environment:\n\nRequired to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 35 lbs\nMust be able to sit, bend, squat and walk about facility\nDepending on project assignment, may be required to walk/stand for entire 8 hour day\n\nSafety Requirements\n\nAll employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.\n\nManagers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently.
