This OpportunityWSP's Engineered Construction team is growing, and we have opportunities for Construction Materials Testing Technicians in Atlanta, GA to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. We are seeking experienced construction engineering inspectors ICC, ACI and other certifications.Your ImpactPerform testing on general building sites and facilitiesInterpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirementsPerform Erosion Control (NPDES) InspectionsPerform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specificationsPerform sampling and testing of Masonry & Grout in accordance with ASTM and project specificationsPerform soil density testing using both nuclear gauge and sand cone in accordance with ASTM and project specifications on site at commercial construction projectsPerform Foundation inspections for various shallow foundations in accordance with testing standards and project specificationsPerform reinforced concrete inspections in accordance with ICC Special Inspections standardsPrepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and density calculations and resultsObserve proof rolls, undercut operations, perform footing inspections with dynamic cone penetrometer, and inspect rebarTest and work in accordance with Company safety policiesMonitor work procedures for compliance with project specificationsInteract with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sitesPerform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing dataWho You AreRequired Qualifications5+ years Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial/industrial construction projects with emphasis on Soils and concrete.ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)NPDES Red CardICC Soils or EquivalentICC Reinforced Concrete or EquivalentICC Masonry or EquivalentTroxler or equivalent certificationAbility to evaluate soil subgrade prior to placement of fill and perform standard soil Proctor and moisture checksAbility to read and understand site grading drawingsHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid Driver's LicenseGood driving HistoryReliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled timesAbility to prepare reports and documentationStrong written and verbal communication skillsBasic knowledge of ExcelFlexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredMust pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyPreferred QualificationsRecent graduate with Associates or BS in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction ManagementFluent in Spanish, Japanese, or KoreanWorking towards BS in the above or BS in Civil Engineering.ICC Fire, ICC Bolting, ICC SteelPre &/or Post-Tensioned Concrete CertificationIBC Commercial Building Inspector CertificationPhysical DemandsPhysical examination required to obtain medical clearance to workAbility to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 poundsClean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehiclesAble to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
