This role is responsible for creating and validating detailed mechanical designs that meet project requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards. Working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams—including manufacturing, customers, and vendors—the Mechanical Design Engineer helps drive continuous improvement through design standardization, process enhancements, and effective engineering change management to support reliable, cost‑effective, and high-performance products.\nRESPONSIBILITIES Review project scope and design specifications and participate in design kickoff meetings.\nUtilize engineered drawings, specifications, design criteria, and vendor shop drawings to develop detailed manufacturing drawings.\nEffectively communicate with customers, vendors, upper management, and staff to ensure the success of company objectives and assigned tasks on time and within budget.\nContinuously coordinate with the manufacturing team regarding capabilities and best practices for manufacturing.\nParticipate in the creation and maintenance of design tasks and schedules on a regular basis.\nIncorporate manufacturing feedback into designs through the Engineering Change process and effective communication with other stakeholders.\nComplete design deliverables per the company and department best practices.\nCreate detailed 2D & 3D mechanical designs based on internal/external drawings, specifications, and product requirements.\nCollaborate with both internal and external cross-functional teams to achieve manufacturing designs and drawings.\nUtilize mechanical engineering skills to solve technical problems, achieving gains in cost, reliability, and product performance.\nPrepare clear and concise documentation for presentation of data and test results.\nSupport the manufacturing team to resolve issues experienced during the manufacture of a DFM design.\nValidate design through application of engineering calculations, FEA tools, design standards, and industry best practices.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nDESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.\nAbility to work in a high‑paced team environment.\nUnderstanding of design drawings, such as schematics, point‑to‑point wiring, and shop drawings required.\nIntermediate to expert level of skill in 3D modeling with CAD programs such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar required.\nSolid understanding of design for manufacturing concepts.\nFamiliarity with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.).\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to understand instructions in written, oral, and diagram formats.\nExcellent time management and personal scheduling skills to ensure completion of tasks on time.\nEngineer‑In‑Training Certification or Professional Engineer License is preferred.\nKnowledge of utility or commercial‑scale solar design and implementation.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to sit for long and short periods of time.\nRegularly required to talk in order to communicate detailed, important, and accurate instructions to internal and external customers.\nRegularly required to walk for long and short distances.\nFrequently required to stand for long and short periods of time.\nOccasionally required to bend or twist at the neck and torso.\nOccasionally required to crouch, squat, stoop, kneel.\nOccasionally required to reach forward, grab, grasp, pinch, handle material and tools using upper extremities.\nFrequently required to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.\nRequired to have visual acuity with or without correction to inspect products before and after installation.\nConstantly required to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to hear detailed information and distinguish sounds to avoid hazards.\nREPORTING STRUCTURE This position reports to the Engineering Manager/Supervisor.\nCAREER ADVANCEMENT Career advancement at Construction Innovations is possible with all positions, but is not guaranteed. Advancement could be within the current department or to other departments within the company.\nLOCATION Construction Innovations facilities and offices are located in Sacramento, CA and Mather, CA.\nCOMPENSATION A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $63,500.00 - $96,200.00 annually.
