This role will work closely with our existing front-end developer (WordPress-focused), as well as our account, creative, and analytics teams, to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing websites and integrations.\nThis position will primarily focus on back-end and full-stack development, including Drupal site management, PHP application development, custom integrations, and API-driven solutions—complementing front-end WordPress expertise already on the team.\nThe ideal candidate is a problem-solver who understands the full web development lifecycle, can translate business needs into technical solutions, and enjoys collaborating across disciplines.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDevelop, maintain, and optimize Drupal-based websites, including custom modules, themes, and configurations\nBuild and maintain PHP applications and services, emphasizing reusable, scalable, and well-documented code\nDesign and implement API-driven integrations with SaaS platforms (CRM, marketing automation, analytics, etc.)\nCollaborate with a front-end WordPress developer to ensure clean handoffs between front-end presentation and back-end logic\nSupport and enhance WordPress sites as needed, primarily on the back-end or integration side\nWork with analytics and data teams to support tracking, data pipelines, and reporting integrations\nEnsure performance, security, accessibility, and maintainability best practices are followed\nParticipate in architecture decisions, technical planning, and code reviews\nTroubleshoot production issues and recommend long-term solutions\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience\n5–10 years of professional web development experience\nStrong proficiency in PHP, with an advanced understanding of object-oriented programming\nHands-on experience with Drupal, including building custom modules and working with core APIs\nExperience working across the full stack, including JavaScript, CSS, and modern responsive patterns\nExperience integrating systems via RESTful APIs\nSolid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL (BigQuery or other analytics databases a plus)\nWorking knowledge of Git and modern development workflows\nFamiliarity with deployment environments, hosting platforms, and basic DevOps concepts\nPreferred Experience\nExperience supporting or extending WordPress sites (especially back-end customization or integrations)\nFamiliarity with Twig, Sass, Gulp, or similar build tools\nExperience with headless or decoupled CMS architectures\nExposure to cloud platforms or managed hosting environments\nExperience working in an agency or multi-client environment\nCode repository or portfolio available for review\nMP&F Strategic Communications is an internationally recognized, full-service integrated marketing, advertising and communications firm based in Nashville, Tenn.
