Senior Accountant (Statutory)
The Senior Accountant is responsible for various accounting duties, including monthly and quarterly closes, account reconciliations, accounts payable support and assisting with corporate matters. They will assist with financial planning and reporting functions ensuring accuracy and adherence with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), corporate policies and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), regulatory reporting rules and regulations. The Senior Accountant conducts complex accounting activities and prepares accounting reports or statements and develops and prepares analyses, accounting studies, and reports of a special or non-recurring nature used to make financial decisions. The Senior Accountant will be accountable for written financial statement analysis, presentation of analytical results and reports on trends and forecasts. The Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with The Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.___________________________________________________________________________Key Responsibilities:Producing error-free accounting reports and present their resultsAnalyzing financial information and summarizing financial results (GAAP & STAT)Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.Analyzes and explains variances to plan, maintains plan in oracle.Provide professional accounting services, which involve intricate and complex accounting issues.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operating and financial statement and complete analysis of operating results.Preparation of financial statements, reports and analyses necessary to respond to special requests by senior management, regulatory agencies and/or other departments. Respond to information and assistance requests from both internal and external sources.Participate in any special projects to ensure financial accounting, reporting and company-wide operational issues are properly identified and addressed in a timely manner.Ensure management and regulatory reports are technically correct, accurate, filed on a timely basis and properly documented.Ensure compliance with the operational risk controls in accordance with corporate policies.Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, related field or equivalent expertise Experience in annuity, reinsurance and investment accountingExperience in financial planning and variance to plan analysisExcellent communication skills (written & oral)Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detailAbility to work under pressure.Proficient in key PC software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
