A school district in Middletown, NY is seeking a certified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students across grades K-12. This contract position begins immediately and is expected to continue through the remainder of the school year with possible extension. The role demands a dedicated professional passionate about empowering students with hearing loss to achieve academic success. Key Responsibilities:Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12Manage a caseload of approximately 20-30 individual sessions per weekDeliver services across multiple locations, ranging from 2 to 8 school sites within the districtCollaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, and related service providers to create inclusive learning environmentsAssess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual communication and educational needsMaintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as required Qualifications:Must hold a valid New York State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching CertificateExperience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across elementary, middle, and high school levels is preferredStrong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage a caseload and multi-site responsibilitiesAbility to build rapport with students, families, and school teams Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week) This opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners in their educational journey.
