CNC Manual Machinist - 2nd/3rd Shift

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Setup and operate designated Tool Room equipment to perform highly diversified machining and assembling operations on both manual and CNC machines. This includes manufacturing and/or repair of precision jigs, fixtures, dies, tools, gages, samples and some production parts. Will be required to use a wide variety of machines such as saws, drills, mills, lathes and to make parts made from steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass or plastic. Be able to use hand and bench tools to fit, and polish prior to assembly operations. Must be able to determine the most efficient method for producing quality parts. Maintain acceptable levels of performance as measured against department benchmarks. In addition, provide input relative to continuously improving the overall production performance of the department. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have experience setting up and operating CNC equipment and manual machining equipment. Must successfully satisfy the established job qualifying criteria. EXPERIENCE, SKILL, JOB KNOWLEDGE: Work in conjunction with area team leaders and supervisors to maintain standards of production. Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize, and problem solve is essential. Must be able to interpret complex blueprints and design specifications, starting with raw material, plan and layout all operations to be performed, and end up with a completed part. Must make precision measurements and set ups with comparators, micrometers and gage blocks. Must be able to work overtime when required. ERGONOMICS: Need to expend light to medium physical effort in handling tooling and machine components. Heavier objects are transported by truck, hoist or with the assistance of others. Work is normally performed from a standing position.
