Bethany Community Church is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee facilities management, operations, and physical security across all Bethany-owned and leased properties. This role provides leadership for facilities staff, manages vendors and contracts, and ensures that Bethany’s buildings, grounds, and vehicles are safe, well-maintained, and aligned with Bethany’s mission and risk management standards.
Responsibilities
Manage, plan, and assist in all aspects of facilities management, operations, and physical security
Provide oversight and expense forecasting for all Bethany facilities, including Green Lake, rental houses, and future facilities
Develop and maintain forecasts for preventive and unexpected maintenance across all properties
Oversee remodeling and improvement projects at Bethany Community Church locations
Negotiate contracts and monitor compliance with vendors and subcontractors
Ensure all certificates of occupancy and inspections are current and properly posted (elevator, boiler, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, etc.)
Order, maintain, and manage inventory of maintenance and custodial equipment and supplies
Develop and administer the annual facilities budget and monitor spending
Document facilities practices and procedures aligned with Bethany’s Risk Management framework
Manage all property leases, including insurance requirements and lease compliance, for both Bethany-owned and tenant properties
Collaborate with the Executive Director on Bethany’s overall insurance requirements
Monitor industry best practices, emerging techniques, and current facilities-related issues
Staff & Operations Management
Provide oversight and supervision of facilities staff
Prepare work schedules and assign daily and long-term work tasks
Provide technical guidance on complex or unusual work
Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and support employees, volunteers, vendors, and contractors
Review time records and work documentation for accuracy and completeness
Ensure staff are properly trained in safety procedures
Custodial, Grounds & Vehicles
Schedule custodial services based on facility usage and monitor performance
Maintain Bethany Green Lake grounds, including landscaping and general upkeep
Ensure parking lots are clean, accessible, and well-maintained
Ensure Sunday street closure permits are active and compliant
Maintain all Bethany vehicles, including preventive maintenance and repairs
Prepare vehicles for ministry use by ensuring cleanliness and adequate fuel
Participate as a member of the Bethany Community Church staff and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility, property, or vehicle maintenance
Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, fire sprinkler, water supply, security systems, utilities, etc.) and construction
Knowledge of applicable legal codes and standards (OSHA, L&I, fire codes, etc.)
Demonstrated success in a supervisory or leadership role
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and Google applications) and ability to learn facilities management software
Preferred Qualifications
College degree preferred
Degree in construction management, landscape management, or a related field preferred
