Will provide oversight/guidance on analyses by junior engineers as needed.\r\nExperimentally and analytically characterize system and subsystem performance and capabilities.\r\nParticipate in and or lead the design, implementation and optimization of software sequences for automation of manual assay protocols on MSD instrumentation.\r\nParticipate in and or lead the development and documentation of failure modes, effects and criticality analyses.\r\nParticipate in and or lead the development of system design requirements and specifications.\r\nParticipate in and or lead the development and execution of system design verification and validation test plans.\r\nParticipate in and or lead the development and implementation of system and subsystem reliability test plans.\r\nGenerate and implement change orders to promote product design and process improvements.\r\nProvide guidance to team working on systems engineering tasks.\r\nSpecific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.\r\nExperience and Qualifications:\r\nBachelor's degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field required.\r\nMaster's degree preferred.\r\nTen years of industry relevant experience preferred.\r\nAdvanced degrees or certifications may be applied as industrial experience.\r\nExperience in scientific or medical instrumentation strongly preferred including various manufacturing methods/options and design ROI in a project driven environment.\r\nExperience in an ISO cGMP environment preferred.\r\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\r\nAdvanced knowledge of programming and data analysis tools such a Python, MATLAB, Minitab, or similar language.\r\nAdvanced knowledge of the product development process with specific cross-disciplinary systems integration expertise.\r\nSolid knowledge of analytical techniques, experimental design and statistical analysis.\r\nExcellent analytical and problem solving skills.\r\nDemonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion.\r\nDemonstrated propensity to be creative, collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned accountabilities.\r\nDemonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage processes through to completion and coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.\r\nSolid understanding of ISO and/or FDA cGMP standards and their documentation requirements.\r\nExcellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.\r\nEffectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of project status.\r\nExcellent documentation skills, technical writing and presentation skills.\r\nA wide variety of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities.\r\nPhysical Demands:\r\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.\r\nThis position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.\r\nWork Environment:\r\nThis position is performed in R&D, light-manufacturing, and engineering office environments.\r\nCompensation Summary:\r\nThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $116,600 to $177,800. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary.
