Designs and supports manufacturing solutions and collaborates with other supporting groups to rapidly develop new applications for a wide range of various locomotive systems within assigned functional area.\n\nKey Job Elements\nDuties and responsibilities (Note: duties/qualifications required will depend on assigned division)\n\nSupports production by diagnosing and solving problems with materials and processes to maintain or\n\nLeads design reviews for assigned systems and participates in reviews for other systems; works with vendors and suppliers to specify new components and select appropriate components for designs; collaborates with engineers of other disciplines to integrate components into higher‑level machine designs;\n\nSupports operations and service organizations in implementing and maintaining product through life cycle; works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and supporting functions to identify and address any issues affecting productivity and quality;\n\nResponsible for new product development, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods; utilizes data to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process issues;\n\nRemains current on engineering resources and new products/processes; completes assigned required learning modules;\n\nEducation/Training\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1-5+ years of experience (depending on position) in engineering, including experience in manufacturing, transportation, and/or machinery industries; hand tools experience; some engineering experience (mechanical/electrical).\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\nProficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software; ability to accurately design, CAD and check a project with minimal supervision;\n\nProficiency in computer programs relevant to assigned position, e.g., Matlab, PSIM, PLEX, NX Unigraphics, SAP, ERP LN 10.7, BAAN ERP, FEA, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD 2D, and Progress Rails specific programs and applications;\n\nAbility to read and understand specification and standards documents; proficient in interpreting and\n\nExperience with project estimating and order management;\n\nBenefits\nCompensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
