Private Credit Data/Software Engineer

We are seeking a Private Credit Data Scientist to sit at the intersection of software and data engineering, supporting back/middle office teams across portfolio analytics, automated reporting, accounting automation, and AI-driven workflows. This would be with our New York-based alternative asset manager client specializing in private/public credit and real estate. Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain automation and portfolio monitoring tools for liquidity management, accounting processes, risk reporting, performance attribution, and security masterDesign scalable data pipelines that ingest and transform structured and unstructured credit data; own data quality, validation, and lineage standardsDevelop automated reporting solutions for portfolio management and operations, including fund-level performance, risk metrics, and senior leadership dashboardsPartner with the accounting team to automate financial calculations and fund accounting workflows, integrating accounting data with investment systemsCollaborate with engineering, investment professionals, and operations to translate business requirements into production-ready analytical toolsContribute to AI and automation initiatives, including applying machine learning and language models to credit document analysis and workflow automation Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in a software engineering, data science, or analytics role within private credit, structured finance, lending, or a related credit domainPrior experience in fixed income or credit investing is strongly preferredStrong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and pipeline development; hands-on experience with SQL and cloud data warehousesDemonstrated ability to build back/middle office software — risk, performance, cash flow, or accounting applicationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field Preferred QualificationsExperience working with accounting and operations data at a credit firmExperience working with C# or React is preferredExperience with GraphQL APIs, Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure, or event-driven data architecturesWorking knowledge of large language models applied to financial document analysis or workflow automationExperience building self-serve dashboards or analytical tools for investment or finance teamsSelf-start with strong communication and collaboration with business users Please note: This position is not open to 3rd party c2c agencies.
