We are looking for a talented Automation & Controls Engineer to develop and apply controls systems for operation of chemical reactor systems.\nThe Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing and applying controls systems for operation of chemical reactor systems. These systems are generally based around fiber film microchannel reactors. This role will be part of the Engineering division, a creative and motivated team supporting the fundamental research and development of fiber reactor products and their implementation in the field at client sites. This role will be responsible for the development, optimization, validation and troubleshooting of automated controls used in chemical reactor systems. A substantial part of the duties includes developing small-scale automation for laboratory and pilot systems development. These systems are highly variable and need modest customization for each different application. Many applications involve immiscible liquids with different polarity and density. Developing robust sensing and control systems around these immiscible liquids is a must.\nHere's what you'll be doing:\nElectrical\n· Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical equipment integration (e.g. P&IDs, Inventor/SolidWorks, AutoCAD)\n· Develop electrical design, schematics, and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD\n· Research and source supplier products for assembly components\n· Develop power requirements for customer specific projects\n· Develop component bill of materials\n· Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications\n· Perform quality checks and assist during assembly\n· Establish new and maintain existing standards\nSoftware\n· Design, develop, and implement software applications based on customer specific requirements and new concepts using Rockwell Automation Studio 5000/Factory Talk and Siemens Simatic S7 (TIA Portal) Software\n· Able to tune PID loops based on system response during equipment setup and commissioning\n· Proficient in using software to develop electrical/PLC design, schematics, and drawings (e.g. P&IDs, Inventor/SolidWorks, AutoCAD)\n· Understand client requirements for HMI/communication interface, networking, and create specifications based on these requirements\n· Review, modify, troubleshoot, and redesign legacy company equipment and systems\n· Good technical writing skills to write Operating and Software Manuals to communicate functionality of company developed equipment\n· Lead controls strategy reviews and work with Engineering to ensure proper implementation of features\nGeneral\n· Comply with company safety procedures.
