The Junior Software Release Manager plays a key role in the software development and delivery process by overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases. The Junior Software Release Manager uses expertise in Agile methodologies and strong communication skills to coordinate activities of multiple, cross-functional teams to ensure that software is released on time, with high quality, and complies with applicable company and industry standards.\nThis is a hybrid position based in Alpharetta, GA.\nResponsibilities:\nRelease Planning:\nCollaborate with product owners, software development and quality assurance teams, DevOps, information security, and IT operations teams to plan and schedule software releases.\nDevelop release timelines and milestones.\nCommunicate release plans to stakeholders.\nDevelop and maintain a release plan that outlines the scope, schedule, and objectives of software releases utilizing tools such as Jira Software and Confluence.\nCoordination:\nCoordinate and facilitate release meetings, ensuring all teams are aligned on release goals and timelines.\nWork closely with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to prioritize release activities.\nImplement and enforce change control processes to ensure that only approved changes are included in each release.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, quality assurance, DevOps, IT operations, and client-facing teams to foster a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for successful software releases.\nCoordinate efforts of third-party vendors when they have deliverables in the release (e.g. translations)\nTrack and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the release process, such as release velocity and defect trends.\nMonitor production releases for issues, coordinate hotfixes or patches when necessary, and ensure smooth transitions to maintenance and support phases.\nRisk Management:\nIdentify potential risks and issues that may impact release schedules or software quality and work proactively to mitigate them.\nDevelop contingency plans to address unexpected obstacles during the release process.\nProvide timely updates to project teams and stakeholders.\nCommunication:\nCommunicate release schedules, progress, and status updates to stakeholders, including executives, and relevant teams.\nProvide regular updates on release progress, risks, issues, and resolutions.\nResolve conflicts and disagreements among team members or stakeholders related to release planning, scope, or priorities.\nDocumentation\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.\nProvide input to and help maintain company SDLC Policy and Procedures documentation.\nCompliance:\nEnsure teams follow industry and company standards and bring awareness to exceptions.\nParticipate in annual SSAE and SOC 2 audits providing evidence as required.\nContinuous Improvement:\nContinuously evaluate and improve the release process, incorporating industry best practices and lessons learned from previous releases to improve efficiency and reduce risks.\nImplement best practices for release management and stay informed about industry trends.\n\nRequired Skills and Qualifications:\nStrong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor releases effectively.\nExcellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.\nFamiliarity with software development processes and technologies, including Agile methodologies, version control systems, and release management tools.\nStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address unexpected challenges during releases.\nMeticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of release documentation.\nAbility to collaborate with product owners, development, quality assurance, DevOps, information security, and IT operations teams to achieve common release objectives.\nFlexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nOne to three (1-3) year’s experience in release management, project management, or a related role.\nExperience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and resolving conflicts.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in software development with a thorough understanding of the development process and the challenges associated with software releases.\nExperience using Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management, GIT, Polaris\nExperience working with external vendors\nKnowledge of wholesale finance or other financial industry programs\nCertification in relevant tools\nPrevious experience working in an environment that requires adherence to SOC 2 (Service Organization Control Type II) compliance.\nCompensation & Benefits:\nAt DataScan, our associates are our number one asset.
