Structural / Architectural Drafter

Intracoastal Iron & Metalwork is a leading fabricator of high-end custom metalwork and structural steel. We specialize in architectural stairs, railings, and complex structural assemblies for both residential and commercial projects throughout the coastal Carolinas. Our work blends craftsmanship, precision, and creativity — and we’re looking for a detailer who shares those same values.Position Overview:We are seeking a full-time Detailer / Draftsman to produce shop drawings for architectural stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals, with occasional structural detailing. This position also involves assisting with estimating, material takeoffs, and light project management tasks.You’ll work closely with builders, designers, and our fabrication team to bring each project from concept to completion with accuracy and efficiency.Responsibilities:Create detailed shop drawings for stairs, handrails, and custom metal fabrications.Review and interpret architectural and structural plans to ensure alignment with design intent and fabrication capabilities.Perform material takeoffs and assist with estimating.Communicate directly with builders, project managers, and clients regarding design details and field conditions.Support project management with documentation, schedules, and fabrication coordination.Maintain organized digital files and drawing revisions.Qualifications:Proficiency in AutoCAD (required).Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.Experience with metal fabrication detailing (stairs, railings, structural steel, etc.) is highly preferred.Familiarity with QuickBooks for estimating and invoicing (can be trained).Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.A self-starter with a “get-it-done” attitude who takes pride in their work.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive pay - based on experience.Paid vacation and holidays.Up to 3% IRA match.Quarterly bonuses.Opportunity for advancement and professional development.Work Environment:This is an in-person position based at our Wilmington, NC facility.
