Duties are to conduct aircrew debriefs/data collection in support of the US Navy’s Conventional Ordnance Performance Evaluation (COPE) program, located at NAS Fallon, Nevada.\nThe goal of the COPE program is to observe aviation training evolutions, collect conventional weapons employment data, conduct a comprehensive analysis, and provide a detailed assessment of the overall performance of Fleet and Fleet Marine Force conventional air-to-ground ordnance.\nPrimary Functions:\nObserve, monitor activities, collect, and analyze data and writing reports on flight-line, Combat Aircraft Loading Area (CALA) and Bombing Range activity.\nProvide COPE program monitoring and collection services on live-fire and inert weapons performance during Navy and Marine Corps exercises.\nCommunicate directly with U.S. Government facilities personnel to obtain permission and coordinate access to COPE related work areas/facilities to include military bases active ordnance ranges, and flight line areas.\nDebrief the squadron and or air wing personnel prior to completion of the exercise/training event on the data collected.\nThis work is not full time and will be compensated for on an hourly basis, on call, including nights and weekends. There is no paid time off, sick leave or overtime.\nRequires the understanding of flight test/evaluation best practices, MS Access data bases and analysis techniques.\nThe work requires working on tactical aircraft flight lines in various weather conditions, in squadron ready rooms and classified debriefing facilities.\nThe position is home based at NAS Fallon, Nevada. However, compensated travel will be required to other locations such as Naval Air Facility El Centro, CA, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ, to collect data during USMC exercises.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation/Experience/Skills:\nBachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a relevant Engineering/Science Field.\nAt least six (6) years of experience in a Relevant Engineering/Science Field with the application of scientific knowledge, carrying out professional assignments that require use of conventional analysis programs, approaches, or techniques to support technical programs. Experience in developing findings, conclusion, recommendations and preparing client reports or sections thereof.\nDesired\nTen Years Military Fighter/Attack Pilot or Weapon Systems Officer Experience.\nExperience as a Flight Test Engineer/Manager is also highly desired.\nIn-depth understanding of advanced weapons and weapons system in US Navy and USMC tactical aircraft (fixed and rotary wing) specifically for the planning, launching and guidance of general purpose, laser guided, GPS guided munitions as well as precision guided rockets and missiles.\nProficiency and experience in post mission recording systems and weapon validation procedures.\nThe position requires TOP SECRET clearance plus completion of a Special Background Investigation within the last 5 years, supporting entry into Special Access Programs involving weapons and aircraft systems.\n\nWhat Your Experience Working for Us Will Be Like\nAsk any of our employees and they will tell you SSI is a great place to work with an upbeat and positive culture.
