Travel RN - Med/Surg Tele
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg & Pediatrics position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring active ND or compact RN licensure and both BLS and PALS certifications.Job Details• Acute care setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on a combined Med/Surg and Pediatrics unit,• 17-bed unit with 14 inpatient beds and 3 observation beds,• Patient population includes adults and pediatric patients with common diagnoses such as UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD,• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights,• Nurse aides available: 2 on days, 1 on nights,• Telemetry is applied by the MSP nurse; the ICU monitors tele and reads strips,• Occasional BiPap managed primarily by Respiratory Therapy; no ventilators on this unit,• Drips include electrolytes and set-rate medications; RNs are not required to titrate hypertensive/hypotensive medications,• Charge nurse is present each shift and takes an assignment,• Pediatric patients are managed by an on-call pediatrician (not in-house) rather than a hospitalist,• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (7a-7p / 7p-7a),• Self-scheduling available,• Weekend requirement is as needed,• No holiday requirement,• Float requirement to ED/ICU for 1:1s as needed; travelers are first to float,• 13-week contract,• MEDITECH EMR,Job Requirements• Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted,• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted,• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required,• BSN not required,• Driver's license required for consideration,• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility,Additional Information• Responsibilities include providing medical-surgical and pediatric nursing care, administering set-rate IV drips, applying telemetry, and thorough MEDITECH documentation,• Navy blue scrubs required,• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift, or one day and one night shift if needed - no clinical involvement beyond orientation,• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered,• RTO of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration,• Facial hair fit-testing policy: clinicians with facial hair must pass a primary or secondary fit test (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+); a Portacount test is required if those are failed, but cannot be performed on individuals with facial hair, and PAPR is not available on-site - contracts may be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed to meet fit-test requirements,• Successful candidates on this unit are communicative, motivated, approachable, collaborative, and comfortable asking questions
