This is an amazing opportunity to put your technical knowledge to use by researching and analyzing cutting edge technologies at Clarivate.\nWork with us as a remote independent contractor in this flexible 1099 role supporting our contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). Our team has supported the USPTO by providing PCT Chapter I Search and Examination services since 2005. As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive search and a written opinion on the patentability of an array of diverse technologies. If selected, you will be expected to perform the work in accordance with the terms of a consulting agreement to be presented to you for consideration by Clarivate\nAbout You - experience, education, skills, and accomplishments\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or related field\n\n1+ year of experience working with patents or in the intellectual property field\n\n1+ year of work experience in the industry or advanced research in a related field\n\nMust pass USPTO Background check\n\nAbility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance\n\nU.S. citizen or work eligible legal resident who has resided in the U.S. for the last two years\n\nIt would be great if you also had . . .\nPrevious patent examining/patent searching experience\n\nHighly skilled developing a search methodology and conducting searches.\n\nStrong time management skills and the ability to complete projects against deadlines.\n\nExperience with Orbit, PatBase, Google Scholar or PatSeer\n\nMaster's degree or PhD is a plus\n\nWhat will you be doing in this role?\nOn a weekly basis, accept projects with a defined due date based on your availability and the needs of Clarivate.\n\nDemonstrate the ability to read a disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from the prior art.\n\nPerform a comprehensive search to ensure the most relevant prior art is located and provide a logical and complete search history.\n\nPrepare a written opinion applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure.\n\nMaintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications.\n\nStay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures via self directed review of materials provided by Clarivate.\n\nMaintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverables.\n\nEnsure compliance with Clarivate's Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct\n\nRequired Equipment for the job:\nReliable, High Speed Internet connection: at least 10 Mbps of download speed and 1 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth\n\nSecure work location, working from public areas is not permitted\n\nPhone and voicemail service for business communication\n\nHours of Work\nFlexible work hours\n\nThis is a remote position, but all work must be completed in the continental United States\n\nAt Clarivate, we are committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all qualified persons with respect to hiring, compensation, promotion, training, and other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment.
