With this basis, you will be expected to develop your technical proficiency in new areas of science and engineering as you help COMSOL’s users simulate their future innovations and ideas.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities\nPre-Sales Leads Qualification and Prospect Support\n\nDemonstrate the building of clear and understandable simulation examples for prospective customers on simulations of their applications, primarily in the field of computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer and chemical species transport.\nSupport prospective customers on the modeling of their applications with COMSOL Multiphysics®.\nDemonstrate use of the COMSOL® software and summarize its features in web-based workshops and other marketing and sales events, along with customer meetings.\nA willingness and ability to travel for limited periods of time to current and potential customers in order to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities in North and South America.\nPost-Sales Technical Support\n\nSupport customers on use of the COMSOL® software for their fluid flow, heat transfer and chemical species transport applications, along with a variety of multiphysics applications involving other engineering disciplines.\nInitiate and participate in subsequent sales opportunities to existing customers and other departments of existing customers.\nTraining and Mentoring\n\nDevelop your technical and simulation knowledge and abilities through working with sales and support cases both independently and in cooperation with other sales and applications engineers.\nRun introductory training courses along with computational fluid dynamics and related courses.\nDevelop and mentor new applications engineers, technical account managers, and sales engineers on the COMSOL® software and its uses in certain application areas.\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nA Master’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science with twelve months or more experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and/or transport phenomena using computational methods and tools.\nExcellent communication skills on the phone, in person, and in writing.\nCurrent eligibility to work in the U.S.\nThis is an in-office position.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPhD in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science.\nStrong research background in finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and similar numerical methods.\n3 or more peer-reviewed journal publications with a focus on computational modeling / numerical method in one of the following areas: Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer and Transport Phenomena/Processes.\nA bonus would be a background or knowledge of chemical process modeling, material processing, multiphase flow, complex fluids, rarefied flow, particle tracing or discrete element method (DEM).\nExperience with integrating physics-based simulation with machine learning/neural network is a plus.\nPersonal growth\n\nSupporting your success in your role as an Applications Engineer will be other simulation engineers and software developers who occupy the top echelons of their areas of expertise.
