As a Senior Software Engineer here, you will join a Development team that is focused, professional and consistently driving innovation that shapes our industry‑leading digital language education products.\n\nOUR TECHNOLOGY STACK\nLanguages/Frameworks: Ruby/Rails, JS, Vue\nPersistence: MySQL, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch\nHosting: AWS\n\nIN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:\nParticipate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)\nPerform tests to optimize performance\nWrite clean code to develop functioning web applications\nWork effectively and collaborate with different team members to deliver on-time and efficient projects\nYOU MUST HAVE (MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE):\nBachelor’s Degree\n7+ years of Senior level Software Engineering experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails or Python + JavaScript\nDemonstrated software architectural design experience, including data persistence and API design\nStrong understanding of networking and web browser protocols\nAdvanced working knowledge of *nix systems, and comfort working at terminal command line.\nAdvanced SQL and DB schema design knowledge\nAdvanced working knowledge of git & GitHub\nExperience collaborating with other departments/teams\nStrong communication, listening and interpersonal skills to be able to actively listen to needs and respond to audience appropriately\n\nIDEAL IF YOU HAVE or ARE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE):\nExperience with Sagemaker, AWS Poly, Azure Speech Service\nExperience with SQL, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch\nExperience building and deploying high-capacity applications in cloud environments, especially AWS\nA strong understanding of how to architect solutions for scalability and performance\nExperience working with LLMs and AI tooling for developers\nExperience with Ruby highly preferred\nExperience in ed-tech, education, language-learning or a similar industry\nFamiliarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and best practices for meeting 2.1 AA compliance\n\nLOCATION: Boston-Hybrid or Remote - Eastern US Time Zone\nPosition requires current residence within the United States of America and within the eastern time zone. Ideal candidates will be located within close proximity to our Boston office location and be willing to work a Tuesday and Thursday (2-day minimum) Hybrid schedule.
