Director of Student and Recent Graduate Engagement
OverviewThe Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a Program Director, Student and Recent Graduate Engagement. In this role, you will serve as the business owner and program portfolio lead for engaging UW alumni in the 22 to 28 year-old life stage. Develop strategies and deliver tactics to engage recent grads, building affinity for UW Madison, and brand awareness for the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Supervise professional and student staff, oversee the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board and work with volunteer Recent Grad Advisory Council. Serve as liaison to key campus units which drive student engagement activity and leverage those to achieve outcomes.Who is WFAA?The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. WFAA values people and the differences that they bring to the organization, and creates an environment in which all staff members and constituents feel respected and have opportunities to thrive.ResponsibilitiesAlumni EngagementServe as the business owner and program portfolio lead for engaging UW alumni in the 22 to 28 year-old life stageDevelop engagement strategy and deliver tactics which build affinity, pride and community among 22 to 28 year old alumni and build brand awareness for the Wisconsin Alumni AssociationRecruit and manage a volunteer Recent Graduate CouncilCreate and execute programming that appeals to recent graduate alumniCollaborate with internal and external partners to leverage existing activity and enhance recent graduate programmingManage the Career and Alumni Networking ProgramServe as business owner for online networking platform, in collaboration with the Digital Experience Team, and develop strategies to optimize the tool to achieve outcomesCreate and execute career-focused recent graduate programming and eventsServe as a key resource to foster student-to-alumni mentoring and career networksStudent EngagementOversee the WFAA student organization - Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB)Supervise the full-time, professional WASB Student AdvisorAlign student organization activities with WFAA priorities and objectivesEnsure the positive and effective use of the WAA brandBuild a culture of philanthropy within student organizationsOversee development of a student engagement plan which reflects the student lifecycle and builds awareness of the Wisconsin Alumni Association brandServe as the WFAA liaison to campus units which lead student and family engagement initiatives, including Commencement, Student Life and the Parent ProgramLeverage and participate in campus-driven student engagement activities to advance WFAA student engagement objectivesTeam LeadershipSupervise and develop professional and student staff to continually improve individual and organizational outcomesMotivate, inspire and lead a team fostering a shared vision and demonstrating organizational valuesDevelop feasible short and long-term plans and strategies for achieving goals and objectivesGuide team members in the management of priorities and work flow, ensuring effective planning and execution of activitiesIdentify resource gaps and problem-solve solutions for maximum returnProvide ongoing feedback and recognition as well as regular performance appraisalsAdministrationDemonstrate proficiency and effectively use organizational processes and technology tools, including the customer relations management databaseWork collaboratively with the WFAA Legal department on risk mitigation and oversight of student event activities and vendor contractsQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelors Degree or equivalent experience. 3 + years relevant professional experience in any of the following areas; student life, career development, educational institutions, non-profit or fund raising environment preferred. Experience supervising and managing professional and student staff, and working with volunteers. Other QualificationsDemonstrated ability to develop and execute on strategic engagement plan. Strong sense of initiative and ability to work autonomously. Experience planning and executing large and small-scale events and engagement activities. Familiarity with marketing and communications practices, including use of social media. Excellent analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills. Experience managing a team and advising students and/or volunteers. Experience with career development and professional networking a plus.
