Risk Advisor, Business Assurance & Controls
The Risk Advisor within the Personal Wealth Division is a business-embedded partner supporting advisory and wealth management activities through practical, forward-looking risk management. This role works directly with business leaders to identify risks across client interactions, advisory products, and brokerage operations, and translate them into actionable solutions that protect clients and the firm.This individual partners closely with stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit to strengthen risk visibility, enhance control effectiveness, and support sound decision-making.What You’ll DoIdentify and assess risks across advisory products, client interactions, and business processesPartner with business leaders to develop practical, business-aligned risk mitigation strategiesEvaluate and enhance control design and effectiveness to improve risk outcomesPerform root cause analysis and support remediation of risk events and control gapsLeverage data and risk metrics to identify trends and inform decision-makingSupport key risk management practices including risk assessments, issue management, and governance routinesPartner with the business to evaluate risk in new initiatives and process changesAct as a liaison across business, Compliance, Risk, and Audit to drive aligned solutionsWhat We’re Looking ForAbility to translate data and analysis into meaningful risk insightsExperience improving or building risk processes, frameworks, or reportingStrong problem-solving skills and comfort operating in ambiguityAbility to simplify complex concepts for business partnersConsultative, hands-on approach with strong stakeholder influenceQualificationsTypically 5–10 years of experience in risk management, controls, compliance, or operational riskExperience supporting wealth management, advisory, brokerage, or financial services businesses preferredExperience with risk assessments, issue management, control evaluation, or governance preferredExperience leveraging risk metrics or reporting strongly preferredUndergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferredStrong communication and analytical skillsSpecial FactorsSponsorshipVanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.About VanguardAt Vanguard, we don't just have a mission—we're on a mission.To work for the long-term financial wellbeing of our clients.
