Seasonal Maintenance Helper (multiple positions)

Job Description:The Longwood University Real Estate Foundation invites qualified applicants to apply for the part-time position of Seasonal Maintenance Helper. Multiple candidates will be hired. Successful candidates will be responsible for performing several tasks, including, but not limited to, painting, plumbing, replacing sheetrock, etc.This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.This is not a Longwood University hire, selected candidates will be employed with the Longwood University Real Estate Foundation.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Perform various painting tasksInstall and repair door closures and handrailsReplace sheetrock and building wall structuresRepair and replace lights, switches, and receptaclesClean drains, install pipes, and replace and repair plumbing fixturesClean vehicles as neededGather and deliver job materials while assisting with job site preparation and clean-upChange batteries in smoke detectors, check emergency lighting, and escort contractorsOther duties as assignedRequirements:Ability to climb all types of ladders, including step and extension ladders.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact appropriately with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.Additional Information:Hours worked will vary based on need, but will be limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required.
