We are currently looking for a Design Engineer to join our team.About Micro Precision: Micro Precision is a precision manufacturing machine shop that has supported national defense and homeland security customers for over 40 years. Through our tenure, we have built strong foundational relationships with vendors and suppliers.Required Qualifications:US Citizenship is required per DoD requirements.B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.A.S. degree and work experience considered in leu of B.S.Minimum 5 years’ experience with SolidWorks software.Experience reviewing technical documents and customer printsExperience with technical and information flow-downExperience with a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, Inconel, titanium, nickel, etc.Experience in machining, assembly, and testing is a plus.Lean Manufacturing certification and experience desirableExperience with ISO9001 and/or other Quality Management Systems.Experience with ERP systems.Ability to work across the organization to identify and resolve issues.Positive attitude with continuous improvement mentality.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Responsibilities:Review and interpret customer purchase orders and contracts for technical requirementsIn-depth research of technical requirements and their application to contractsCondense large amounts of technical information from various sources into easy-to-interpret instructions and drawings.Become an SME for hydraulic systems.Maintain technical flow-down in routingsCreate parts and assembly models and drawings.Maintain ECR and ECN systemsHelp create setup sheets and work instructions for machining, assembly, and test.Create repeatability in manufacturing processes.Work to Engineering department standards.Read and understand GD&T requirements on engineering drawingsEngage in optimization and continuous improvement efforts on new and current processesPrepare comprehensive and accurate reports.Work with Estimating and Production to reduce cost and lead time.Support Production and Quality in meeting manufacturing timelines.Participate in MRB part disposition.Participate in strategic planning for company capability and capacity growth.Physical effort, lifting or pushing up to 50lbs is required.Other duties as responsibilities necessitate.Physical & Mental:General: Position requires ability to concentrate on details with occasional interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time. Ability to understand theories behind related concepts and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over time; ability to prioritize shifting priorities; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Environmental & Working Conditions: Industrial shop setting.
