Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
Position Overview
The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist I provides recovery-oriented, peer-based support to individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder services. This grant-funded position uses lived experience to inspire hope, enhance engagement, and promote recovery through evidence-based, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide peer support services focused on recovery goals, self-advocacy, and empowerment
Assist clients with engagement in treatment services, groups, and community resources
Support access to basic needs and community supports (transportation, benefits, recovery groups, etc.)
Conduct assessments, contribute to treatment planning, and document medical necessity
Integrate motivational interviewing, DBT-informed skills, and trauma-informed practices
Collaborate with treatment teams, families, and community partners
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with agency and grant requirements
Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or 120 credit hours) in Social Work, Psychology, or related field OR equivalent experience as outlined
Completion of DMHA-approved Peer Recovery Specialist training and state certification
Self-identification as a person in recovery
Valid Indiana Driver’s License with reliable transportation
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
Ability to meet all pre-employment competency and background requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $20.99 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
