You’ll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our PostgreSQL environments—from architecting schema designs and writing complex functions to fine-tuning Linux kernels and ensuring 99.99% uptime.\nKey Responsibilities\nDatabase Development & Optimization:\nSchema Design: Design and implement robust, scalable relational schemas and data models.\nAdvanced SQL: Write and optimize complex queries, triggers, and stored procedures (PL/pgSQL).\nPerformance Tuning: Use EXPLAIN ANALYZE and other profiling tools to identify bottlenecks and optimize indexing strategies.\nMigration Management: Lead data migrations, version upgrades, and ETL process development.\nSystem Management & Administration:\nInfrastructure: Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL instances on Linux-based environments (On-prem or Cloud).\nHigh Availability: Implement and manage replication (Physical/Logical), failover mechanisms (Patroni, Repmgr), and load balancing (PgBouncer).\nBackup & Recovery: Design and test rigorous Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) and disaster recovery strategies using tools like pgBackRest or Barman.\nSecurity: Manage user roles, permissions, row-level security (RLS), and encryption at rest/transit.\nMonitoring & Automation:\nSet up proactive monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, or pgWatch2).\nAutomate routine maintenance tasks (Vacuuming, Reindexing) using configuration management tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.\nRequirements\nExperience: 5+ years of experience managing production PostgreSQL environments.\nLinux Mastery: Strong command of Linux internals, shell scripting (Bash), and OS-level tuning for database performance.\nDeep PostgreSQL Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of MVCC, WAL, and PostgreSQL configuration parameters.\nDevelopment Background: Proficient in at least one backend language (Python, Go, or Java) to assist in application-tier integration.\nSoft Skills: A “measure twice, cut once” mentality with the ability to communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with PostGIS for geospatial data.\nFamiliarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/CloudNativePG).\nExperience managing “Very Large Databases” (VLDB) in the multi-terabyte range.\nWhy Join Us?
