Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Our client is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.The HSE Specialist will support the implementation of company health, safety, and environmental programs, processes, and systems.Responsible for:Activities that drive site and company safety and environmental performance to higher levelsFocusing on improvements that will increase the level of adherence and compliance to company HSE objectivesEnsuring the health and safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors through the adherence to HSE standards, policies, and proceduresManaging site Worker's Compensation matters, first aid and CPR training, fit testing, and other safety/health program requirementsEnvironmental:Review and maintain all environmental permitsPrepare and submit required reports and permit applications as requiredSafety:Provides 24/7 availability to plant, as requiredPartners with plant management to establish and maintain an active safety committee, leads safety meetings, and conducts safety walk aroundsDevelop, upgrade, and implement safety and health training programs and systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirementsFollows investigation practices and procedures for all incidents and near misses to determine the causes and the corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrences.Maintains accurate recordkeeping data as required by OSHA and company standardsQualificationsBachelor's degree in safety or equivalent majorMinimum 1-3 years experience in a health and safety role with demonstrated understanding of H&S principles and regulationsStrong persuasion and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work across all disciplines and employee levelsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to accurately write reports, communicate verbally with employees, provide constructive feedback, and maintain positive employee relations
