Done well, most of them stay small.\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\nHandle what comes through the door. Take employee complaints and grievances seriously, document them properly, look into them fairly, and escalate to Legal Counsel when that’s the right call\n\nDisciplinary Process. Work with management to implement progressive discipline, improve compliance, and properly record disciplinary events to employee files\n\nLead the team. Schedule, train, and develop three to four Onboarding Specialists and an HR Administrator. Their accuracy is your accuracy\n\nKeep training on schedule. Make sure required trainings happen when they’re supposed to and that the records prove it\n\nAudit the paperwork. Check employee files, I-9s, and timekeeping records against the standard on a regular cadence — and use what you find to coach the team rather than just fix the file\n\nAnswer the notices. Direct your HR Administrator’s work on garnishment orders, unemployment notices and other employee and government notices, and make sure they land on their deadlines\n\nGet payroll over the line. Oversee the follow-up that gets every department’s timecards submitted and approved in time for each payroll close\n\nWhat you bring\n\nTwo or more years in HR, including at least a year leading, coordinating, or training other people — or equivalent experience\n\nYou’ve handled sensitive employee matters and kept them that way\n\nWorking knowledge of California wage-and-hour and leave rules\n\nYou can audit a file against a standard and spot what’s missing\n\nComfortable in HRIS and timekeeping systems\n\nYou can have a hard conversation without making it harder\n\nNo degree required. No HR certification required.\n\nNice to have\n\nPHR, SHRM-CP, or aPHR\n\nYou’ve run or supported workplace investigations\n\nPayroll or timekeeping administration experience\n\nExperience with a shift-based hourly workforce, especially in transportation or logistics\n\nFluency in Spanish\n\nWhat it pays\n\n$75,000 per year. This is the good-faith salary we reasonably expect to pay for this position on hire.\n\nWe also offer medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and California paid sick leave.\n\nThe environment\n\nPrimarily an office role at our San Francisco site, with time in operational and training areas.
